Public transport is organized crime

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

Since April last year I’ve been using public transport to roam the area. First I had a ticket class B because my gym was between Mülheim Hbf and Uni. In February I switched to a gym right in Mülheim Hbf. Because, earlier, when I bought a day pass for friends, I found out that class [...]

Winterschule

Thursday, January 5th, 2006

If I’m gone, find me in Hamburg

Thursday, November 3rd, 2005

On monday I’ve been travelling through Hamburg on my way from McPomm back to Essen. Alexej dropped me at Bergedorf at 6.50 where I bought a ticket and went to Altona to drink a fair trade coffee at el Rojito. After that I walked through Altona and took some pictures of houses there, met with [...]

Video Store Security

Monday, September 12th, 2005

A couple of years ago some video stores around began to secure their membership cards from misuse. The security measure consists of a PIN the user has to type into a keypad. At least the operators thought it is a security measure. I, for one, don’t believe that anymore since the day I forgot my [...]

Bourne Again Believer

Saturday, September 3rd, 2005

Today I wore my bash T-shirt when I ran into some of these US-american sectarians. One of them looked pretty confused as he saw the shirt. Normally, people just look and wonder what the stuff on it might possibly mean. But what has somebody with a religious background, solid English skills and without Linux experience [...]

Me and Bruce

Thursday, September 1st, 2005

How cool is that? I’m listed in sv’s blogroll together with Bruce Schneier, the author of “Applied Cryptography”, a couple of other security related books and the blowfish algorithm. I feel really comfortable in such a famous neighbourhood. :-)

Nethack and me

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

I discovered Hack, a predecessor of Nethack, on Fred Fish #7 some 250 years ago when I still had an Amiga. Just 10 minutes ago I found the Nethack test on sv’s blog: which Nethack monster am I? The answer: …..!|…R..|../[..|If I were a NetHack monster, I would be a huge battle robot (Marauder class). [...]

Mad creative skills

Monday, August 15th, 2005

Unbelievable. Maybe somebody still remembers this particular Coca Cola ad that had some footage of different Coke bottles and frames together with some background narrative that went like “for optimists, for pessimists, for fat people, for skinny people”. I just witnessed two ads that ran right after each other that were – very funny – [...]

Caffeine shock

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

A couple of days ago I discovered “Dextro Energy Cappuccino”, dextrose with caffeine. The bomb! Unfortunately there is no information on how much caffeine is in the tablets. Because I didn’t necessarily want to overdose I called the Unilever hotline and asked. The result: 30 mg per 100 g. Coffee, e.g., has about 50-200 mg [...]
